Description

Malcom Muggeridge, travelled to Moscow in 1932 – 1933 where he was a correspondent for the Manchester Guardian.  Muggeridge investigated reports of the Great Famine in Ukraine, travelling there without obtaining permission from the Soviet authorities.  His reports were sent back to the Manchester Guardian in British diplomatic bags, thus evading Soviet censorship.  The Ukrainian Canadian Research and Documentation Centre interviewed Malcom Muggeridge in 1982 for its award-winning documentary film Harvest of Despair.
